Night Time Ghosts
Night time Ghosts Its here again the longest time, it seems hours on end, but they never do. Sharing the darkest hours of night with night time ghosts like you The daylight hours go so fast, there is not enough time at all But when the darkness slips down like a curtain, to sleep I never do fall. Sitting in the dark the TV off, I can’t put on the sound for dread I don’t want to wake them all up, so I’ll try a book instead The pages turn noisily, have I woken them, I’ll just look? My thoughts are running away with me… maybe I should write a book The Hoover makes to much noise, the computer bings incessantly The worlds seem to be asleep… that is everyone but me I share my time with the night time ghosts they wander in and talk I have discussions as though they are there, but only in my thoughts. The kettle boils to loudly, the microwaves noise increases I can’t even do the ironing, with no lights I can’t see the creases Who will be my companion on this next endless night? Who or what will fill my mind pushing sleep out… this isn’t right Why can’t I sleep… they say that the innocent sleep well I have only just realised then, I must be as guilty as hell.
