A Sermon With No End
The Sermon With No End By Elton Camp The preacher’s sermon started out okay Most were listening to what he had to say Some of it seemed to be sensible enough But mixed up with some very weird stuff The Bible he would mention now & then And speak out strongly against any sin Then his political opinions he would add And tell the party that he though was bad The congregation he proceeded to berate For not enough on the collection plate A few times it was “In conclusion” he said But he continued with his monotone instead When the watches finally all reached noon They thought he would close it very soon At 12:15 he still continued with his rant To stay awake many found they can’t Flock heads nodded all over the place Wives punched ribs to stop the disgrace If it’s not over ‘til the fat lady does sing Many wished upon the stage she’d spring
