On the Road
Said Sid the salacious salamander To Ted the tedious toad, Look over there and take a gander There’s something on the road. Where are you looking? Point to me Because I don’t see anything there. Are you sure that there’s something to see? If there is I don’t know where. Perhaps my friend the time has come, To admit that your sight is weak. So I’ll run the risk of sounding dumb, And suggest that you take a peek. And so the toad hopped away To see what might have died. Into the path he happened to stray, From the car he couldn’t hide. Poor Ted the tedious toad Lay flatter than the four-lane frog, Who had met his fate on the same road That morning in a misty fog. Said Sid the salacious salamander To Richard the rancorous raccoon, Would you be in the mood to meander? I’m expecting a delivery van soon.
