Mommy Dearest
Whose job is it to teach and to guide To instill in a girls heart The lessons needed for life A mothers touch is like no other You were too young to know How to train and show Each child to know What is right and what is wrong It didn’t need to be a song And dance Just daily guidance Lessons would be learned About the boundaries Because my adversaries Took my ignorance As compliance How do you say no When you’re not sure If a hand on a knee Or a hand up your skirt Would lead them to think That I was free To be treated like dirt There were times I needed a hug But you would shrug You are to big For that sort of thing Yet I would see you hug my sibling Jekyll and Hyde One minute hot One minute cold A mothers love Who can tell If what you get Will serve you well I will not dwell on the past I choose to cast Those demons behind me And embrace A mothers love at last.
