G'Day Part 3 a Poem For Don
The heat built up on our walkabout, And ol’ sol put me into distress. With no chance of seeing anyone on this route I decided to put on Sam’s sister’s dress. Now I am as much a he-man as any bloke down here, And wearing Sheila’s clothing is nothing I would choose But I was in my all-togethers and it was blistering my rear And I was carrying saving cover so how could I refuse. I put the tiara on my head I was tired of lugging it around. I prayed they wouldn’t find me dead, Without any explanation to be found. I have never felt more stranded Than when wearing high heeled shoes. But that’s when a bush plane landed With a bloke from the evening news. “We saw the sparkle in the sky, A reflection from your crown. We worried you were going to die, So the pilot to set her down.” That’s the story of how we were saved And why when finally we were found, The public’s reaction was to call us depraved, But it was for stardom that we were bound. Our photog’s now in every paper, And people are buying them by the stack, We are called the princess and pauper, Who survived the great Outback. What happened to the guy that we started out to get? Well, here’s the best part of the joke. Sam hasn’t had a chance to get even with him yet Because Sue went and married the bloke.
