Treasures
A chest full of treasures Diamond, rubies unturned Slivering sliver Glistening pearls Sapphires and emeralds Sparkling so bright Ambers and topaz A beautiful sight. But none of these treasures So rare and so bold I do not covet Have no wish to hold For I know that these jewels Hold no bounty for me I have treasures immeasurable God gave me for free. The treasure of memory Of people long gone Who touched my life gently With the warmth of the sun Of hearing a baby Cry for the first time Heralding their entrance To this world so sublime The feeling of sunrays Bleaching my bones The coldness of icicles And soft fallen snow The sound of the sea Breaking roughly on shore The roar of the wind The light in a storm. For my fathers my diamond My mother my pearl And though I can't see them I know that their there My family my treasure Who without I would fail My husband my anchor The wind in my sail.
