I Saw You In a Dream Last Night
I saw you in a dream last night. You laid next to me and held me tight. With tears in our eyes, we looked at each other. They just kept on falling, one after another. In your arms I laid helplessly. Knowing that soon you would have to leave. You kissed away each tear that fell. For a moment you took me from my hell. You looked at me the way you did, on the day we wed. It felt so real, you lying there beside me on the bed. I could feel the warmth of your embrace. I could feel your breath upon my face. I thought you’d come back, for a split second. Then I knew, back to heaven, you’d soon be beckoned. So I closed my eyes and held on tight. The next thing I saw was the morning light. When I awoke, I felt so alone. I knew you really hadn’t come home. But I just had to thank God above. For the chance to let me, once again feel your love.
