You Held Me In Your Aging Arms
You promised my heart could be mended. And swept me away with your charms. Together we loved and pretended. Held tightly in your aging arms. Weeks turned to years; I was blissful. You broadened my life with love’s play. Taught me to love from the get-go. I could hardly believe it was real. REFRAIN: But many a young girl has loved you. To each one you said you'd be true. Naive and alone, you were trusted. They were victims when you said adieu. A man of your stature and wisdom Should never spread his lies around. Your wife at home watched two children. Together, like me, missing you. Love seemed so great while it lasted. Wishes, whispers, dinners and songs. You swept her away with your wisdom and charms. Then, you held me in your aging arms. REFRAIN: Many a young girl has loved you. To each one you said you'd be true. Naive and alone, you were trusted. They were victims when you said adieu. © May 22, 2011 Name withheld for judging.
