To M----
My true life value once laid with you And the absence of you’re absence Gave me happiness true But the love you felt for me Must have been fleeting For you left me alone Leaving my heart barely beating Now you’re absence, like a devil Is to my soul, slowly eating And if life must end, may it with haste For without you, life could hardly be called so And without you, my heart beat is a true life-waist So come me to my death-bed The last place I will rest For loneliness is something I will forever detest So please let me lay Never again to see the suns crest And rain seems fitting weather For this time without you Is the worst time I’ve ever had to weather Yes, the clouds are a fitting metaphor For the feeling I feel And it feels the organ above my left lung Has been dealt its last deal And melancholy sets in, a feeling that is Cold, hard, like frozen steel And to give a consummation to my ever-blackening thinking To give a conclusion to my dismal thoughts As long as you’re gone, my heart will continue sinking You’re absence is the gravity that keeps The ship of my heart at the bottom of the sea Yes, though you say it was no fault of mine My ship still rests at the bottom of the sea And though many people have tried, I know it’s only you That can rescue my ship and me from the bottom of this sea
