Watching Him Grow
Watching Him Grow This evening I sat in my old favorite chair, Watching my son playing near. Matchbox cars and Lego blocks, Erecting buildings and mountains of rocks. Oh what fun he seemed to have, Not playing attention to his dear old dad. Make-be-believe, his imagination taking flight, Something that seemed to have started overnight. His imaginary friend, he’s now talking to, It’s like all of a sudden my little boy grew. Playing alone or with a friend, His interaction skills have really kicked in. Oh what a joy to see him play, I watch in silence with nothing to say. It’s like he’s growing into a little man, While I’m enjoying the view from where I stand. But oh my little boy, don’t grow too fast, I’m not ready for these days to be of the past.
