I Have Only One Day To Live
I HAVE ONLY ONE DAY TO LIVE I really I want to be close beside you But am writing because you are too Far away to travel, now at sunset It is too long since we last met Long years of sterile separation Years filled with busy work’s duration But what is that work worth now Compared with your closeness? Oh how We fuss around like bees And miss the woods for the trees. I have missed the daily details Of your life and its travails And you have missed mine Missed somewhere along the line. Glass hearts break, tears scald, voice wails, Teeth gnash, hair rips, breaths sob, nothing avails. All regret is wasted breath When I am so close to death Had I the wings of time It would again be spring sublime We would walk and live another Lifetime of love, my brother.
