Minus Seven In Dublin
MINUS SEVEN IN DUBLIN One christmas I spent the holidays in Ireland. It snowed that christmas, unusual for them; and Going back to airport, Dublin was in chaos: you know - Roads blocked with six inches of snow, Cars abandoned, jams everywhere. Uproar for days. We were stopped by the cops. In panic he says, For God’s sake get off the road, it’s seven below! I said ok. He left. Then I continued to go To the airport - I had to get home to Calgary For mum and dad’s silver anniversary. Airport was open but in siege mentality In case the “extreme” snow caused a fatality. All was chaos, doom, despair, worry. Ten hours later we landed at Calgary: No panic, streets clean, police dozing, city aglow - With deep snow and thirty-five below.
