When the Sun Came Up
When the sun came up on the field every cold hand held a broken shield. I saw every man laid down and I saw the Great King lower his cracked crown. The Silver Tree had been cut in leaf, but victory still went to the Hooded Thief. The Thief of All Things had laid claim to all lands just the same. Fire in the sky and Blood in the sea, all things came crashing free. The moon fell down and the heavens stood still. The Hero had fought ever since his first kill. His sword of truth had rang loud and clear, but the Thief had won just as I feared. The first battle was gone and lost, now came frozen fire and burning frost. The Great Winter descended on our land, and only the Hero could still stand. His strength and will was stretched thin, but I knew that he would continue to fight again. This was who he was and what he would ever be. Struggling to see that Man would live to be free. When the sun came up and the morning came, I knew that the we would never be the same. Something in our hearts had changed, something once forgotten, unfamiliar and strange. We began to feel something from the Hero's heart, and because we did we began to realize our part. We had to stand beside this man. We had to forget those days we had turn and ran. Now was our time to strike back at the Dark. The Hero had risen and left his mark. So the sun came up and woke the sleeping souls. We were once again ready to strike our toll. Forever more will we stand and fight, to chase the Dark across the night. The Thief be warned and given pause. Man had once again rekindled the Cause.
