Nothing In Life Is Trivial
After a hard day, I slip into bed and its just right. “Honey you forgot to turn off the light.” “Can't you get up and turn it off?” The only thing I hear is her scoff. “Really are you going to throw a fit?” “never mind, I'll get it.” This trivial fight is just sad, but that night, they go to bed mad. “Good morning” she says, but hears no reply. “I can't believe he left without saying goodbye.” Starting the day mad and alone, when he called later, she didn't answer the phone. She waits for him to call back, but its been an hour. Then her eyes widen, as a plane has hit the east tower. She rushes to the phone, but feels grim. “Please just let me get a hold of him.” There is no answer and she starts to turn pale. Then she sees the blinking of a voice mail. “Baby I'm sorry, I'm not going to make it home today.” “But I want you to know that everything will be OK.” “God baby I love you so much.” “All I want to feel is your soft touch.” A second later the phone cuts out, and she begins to scream and shout. The last two chances they had to say goodbye, gone forever, and its sad why. It was over a pointless fight, it was over turning off a light. Let them hear the words, I love you. You might only get a few more chances to.
