The Stump I Fell In Love With
On the prairies of Dakota I had never seen a tree too big to get my arms around. It was a shock to me when I saw the stump set on the road that a big car could drive through. I could not believe that it was real, it just could not be true. It was in the state of Washington on old Highway 99, someone had placed the monstrous stump and posted up a sign. The thrill of driving through it never waned. One could even shelter in it when it rained. The stump became a hazard as the traffic problem grew. One day it wasn’t there at all, the stump we could drive through . I wondered where they put my stump and feared the very worst. but they’d taken it to a nearby park, not to the dump as I feared first. Now everyone can see it, that remnant of a tree and learn a bit of early history on how things used to be. As for me I’ll always love it. That stump brings memories of when I was young and happy and could be impressed by trees. For contest
