Little Boy Lost
LITTLE BOY LOST Little boy in a yellow coat: He was three, but He was only one - alone In a sunless sea of people. Metro up-escalator, dense crowd. They lost hand-grip : Grip held so lightly, anchor weighed so lightly : Lost anchor, lost grip, lost world. Desperate eyes scouring surging crowd , She was swept into the ascent anxiously Battling the rising tide of people; He remained unmoving at ocean’s bottom. Instant realization That his ocean star was lost, His yellow jacket screamed as A distress-signal flare. Black panic suffocated his mind Mouth now dry, pants now wet, Held breath, cries unheard, paralysed – He drowned a lifetime in those few moments. She burst from the crowd as a miracle : His vice grip testified to that. She hugged his tears dry and they ascended To the surface together.
