The World Watched, Petrified
Adolph Hitler was born into pain All he knew was disdain However, others born of the same fate Made a choice - the narrow gate They searched long and hard for the light Found the source which gave them sight Blinded by hate, Hitler refused to see So darkness would not let him be His mind became warped And in his heart so dark A sea of anger grew Churning the rage he brewed As he envied the others’ gifts Spending sleepless nights plotting a rift Had this genuine gift for gab Laying low, he hid in a patriot’s garb While his influence spread Many citizens began to dread As his hatred took shape Dark clouds hung like drapes Over a country on the rise Only to fall and die With rhetoric he mesmerized Beguiling millions, desensitized Deception his major game plan That very few could withstand Countless followed him blindly Most laid back supinely Eyes closed to the monstrosity Seized in his grip of insanity Three million perished in genocide When malice and hate did coincide Dastardly deeds some ratified While the world in unbelief watched, petrified! Note: Inspired by a documentary on Hitler's rise to power
