The Caged Bird
If the earth is a cage, I'd break the door and fly into space on a whim. The earthly trifles are wearing thin and I wear their badge proudly as I fight from within. I am a survivor, the survivor of pain, humanity's evils have burst my last vein and now I rattle the cage's door. I have a magic sack of pillows and I'll scoop up every beast, every plant and every feast then fly into space on a whim. No one deserves to be a martyr; a sacrifice to a bitter end. I'll liberate the ladder and let the climbers plummet then. I refuse to be a stepping stone, a path to someone's right; I'll break the cage and fly away like the bird that hoots at night. In my mind, I see a vivid craft that speeds beyond the dark lit void, housing all the victim life and me; escaping to where we all are free, to where we all can graze and rest and be at peace, oh please let this cage door open please...I want to spread my wings. I rattle the cage even harder, I see the war of earth and humans ending, the earth is at it's maker's door. But no matter how hard I'm shaking, I cannot open this blasted door. I'm a caged bird with wings so clipped, all I can do is dream of flying... never doing it.
