Homecoming
An early rise, up on a truck, having had, a short drive to the strip. Loaded in the belly of a gray dragon, quickly we move. A waiting game in the dunes, arrival time draws near, up the stairs of the private line, anxious, for a long awaited day. A day dreamed of since the beginning, in the sun and the dark, through the fire and the peace. A day we thought would never occur. The shouts ring out as we soar. The wings of our hearts fly free. The lengthy escape makes us hunger for the memories we held so dear. The reasons we stood the line. We all endure the duration with our own thoughts and reminiscences, hopes and dreams. Ever so slowly, purple waves give way to greenery, growing steadily, then we touch the earth, The tension is palpable. The excitement builds with each step down the aisle. Slowly familiar faces clear in the crowd no barrier can hold the tide. A flood of emotions ensues, threatening to engulf the survivors, holding fast, standing tall. In the wake, stands the one who has none, he quietly plans his return.
