Many Roads
I was on the road to somewhere its name I did not know, youth and innocence filled my veins and my heart was all aglow. The roads were full of signposts and crossroads at every turn, on time I dined so easily with little or no concern. Upon the road I met a man we talked I shared his load, his voice was full of wisdom and a heart that ever flowed. We came to a crossroads with no names upon the post, I asked him which way to go, he said I cannot tell you let your star be your host. There are many paths you must take if life you are learn, sad and joy will walk hand in hand and memories will have their turn. To the heavens I gazed and found that guiding star, burning bright it pulled me, to lands anew and far. It took me to a place called war where many a night I cried, I came back a different man because of those that died. Another road and a town called Peace, there my heart surrendered and all the pain would cease. I settled in a house by the name of love, with my maiden sweet and fair, and every night I kissed the cheek under the stars above. In the garden the children will play, the sun and moon to bless them, and help them on their way. On the porch I sit and while, of that traveller long ago, if to cross my gate, my thanks would surely show.
