What Is a Poet
what makes a person a poet inquiring minds want to know if you are able to write a poem does that make you a poet or do you need to write more then one how about a hundred poems written down can you now declare for all to see that you are now a poet is the writing of the perfect poem your passion do you put any part of you within your poem or is it just words you write do your words evoke emotion do your words all blend or rhyme do they tell a story or are they just words upon a page without any rime or reason how about writing during a particular season does that make you a poet I can only comment on me and what I write late into the night I’ve been writing poems for so many years sometimes my words bring about joy sometimes tears feelings that touch the heart the mind the soul many a time I’ve faced the empty page not knowing or having any idea where to start hoping my hand would begin to automatically move across the page like so many times before although I know I only write for me not for others to judge or see its my feelings my ideas my stories my children all my loves my life that I write about my ups and downs sometimes my sadness gets the best of me facing my reality my life and human strife facing my history writing of my poems is my therapy in what I write down and write about but some times it really really feels good when a family member friend or even a stranger has read a poem or poems what I have written and says to me I like what you have written your poems they touch my heart my mind my soul thank you for sharing your poems with me I believe that you should share your poems for many more people to see I say thank you for your kind words they mean a lot to me am I a poet well that’s your call not for me to say all I know is I just love to write the words that move me and I hope they do the same for you
