Mystery At Midnight
Midnight hour was approaching. . . New Jersey forests hugged each Side of the lonely highway. Tired feet and tired bodies Rested upon worn leather seats In the black stretch limousine Containing three sage pilots And eight stewardesses, who Were all very eager to reach The layover hotel where rest Would soon feel like heaven. No other car lights could be seen. The quiet drone of the limo’s motor Had a lulling affect and a few of The crew had drifted off to sleep. Looking up though the skylight Window, watching the starlit sky, One crew member mentioned The blinking lights in red and green. Soon everyone was careening Their heads to see the craft above. We couldn’t believe our eyes. It was a cigar shaped craft that Seemed to float behind us, blimp Like, with soundless stealth. It was soon apparent that it was Following us at a steady pace. This went on for miles as we drove Though the deep and darkened forest. Our pilots commented that this craft Was unlike any they had ever Encountered before, instilling fear In each of us as we continued to be Under observation by the strange craft. Was this the mother ship of aliens? All of a sudden the cigar shaped craft Seemed to take off at warp speed Disappearing into the deep cobalt sky, Leaving only a memory of its presence Ingrained in our brains for years to come. for Time Warp Contest by Danielle White Note: This happened around 1974 and is the truth as I have written it.
