A Work In Progress
She goes to church on Sunday, Loudly she praises His name She remembers what was said by Monday Still reeling from the same Tuesday comes and she’s in bed, She struggles to recall What is was the father said, Or did he speak at all? So now that it’s Wednesday, She’s up to her old tricks again, Falling off the wagon you’d say, Not knowing where to begin What do you think went on As Thursday came to an end? She tried to recollect but it was all gone Except the memories of a friend Friday came and went as well, Fighting back the tears After all she’s felt like hell, For many, many years With Saturday now sleep in her eyes, And Sunday on the way She looks for God in the skies, Will she listen to what He has to say? Then she walks through the door, She feels the presence of her new friend She’s all excited by what’s in-store, So another week can begin Monday comes with lots of rain and clouds are all around, She tries to sleep with the pain, she dreams without a sound This is a work in progress, as she steps onto the floor What’s she trying to suppress, when she stops at the liquor store?
