You Made Me?
you made me, but i wonder if you broke me too, turned me into you. Gave me your courage, gave me grace, a taste, of my future and yours. That ever elusive shrug, the brave face, "fight your fears" has only reduced me to tears, along with those unfortunate to fall for it. What if making me stronger only served to make me weak, always first to speak, to defend, to pretend i'm still a good listener. What if ambivilance lost me in the game somewhere, too stubborn to care, and now i've "come so far", too far to get it back. What if i lost me when i lost you? Look what we become when looking out for number one, we lose count on our fingers but we're all having fun, right? I'm too tired to put up a fight, I need to lay down, need a chance to breath, to relieve my tangled mind. My strings have come lose and I've lost my path, whilst running along in your shadows, trying to grasp, trying to know what it is you were trying to show me. When I go down along with all your words of wisdom I wont be laughing in the face of adversity, or my lover's, it's the others who'll pick me up and carry me, try to teach me, where will you be? when you set us free did you do it for me? or was I just your project, a reject, one you could forget when you make a new start? Did you know you'd break my heart? Was it part of the learning, part of the game, to start me on my way? one day, you'll say, you made me.
