Listlessness
The mild pace of my brain Around fancy words like tamer and solace Calm like a crystal clear lake High up in the mountains of Tibet Bruno could do nothing but stare On the tragic haircut of Jebediah and Hutch They were only doing what they do Growing tall for the sun to see The moonlight can change a man's life And the breeze can give him hope Sprinklers provide the life to drink And the constant hum of conditioned air Dear night, a stage for the open otters You hold so much more for the lonely salmon This world turns so fast but there is peace Knowing that the moon will come out tomorrow Mellow flame and ash, burnt memories are golden A stroll with the toads on someone else's sidewalk Green and God below my vulture's perch The eyes of children hand me my meal Papers on the chair, papers on the floor Fish on the back and water in the bowl Dark red dimes in the hands of the homeless Seeking a friendly bottle to tell them of better times Casual clothes for those that know Pants for the boss and a tie for love Gravel roads for the man going home Concrete and steel for all the money in the world Growing tall for independence Or independently tall Bringing heels to a point Applying band aids to the blood They're all out there, right now Figuring stuff out Kindred are the coaches Who know their own mistakes The grass and wood chips, plastic chairs and drips Pillars and wind chimes, street lights and numbers Stars and crickets, palms and patios Bikes and brains, angels and demons The tamer of my heart is the solace of my soul
