We lived in our first home Almost forever, But in the last six years, The third and most traumatic Emotion in life, Was packing up and moving. It’s all about enduring! This home was where Our children grew up, Graduations, celebrations, Happy moments and sad Where our parents died, Where our hearts sadly sighed Where we consoled one other And cried. The empty nest syndrome was next, A huge home, echoed emptiness, So, we moved, not quite ready To be retired, But encouraged and inspired, All was in a hurry and flurry, From the old to the new, It was just a move, right, But in hindsight, It was terribly sad. hubby tried hard To cheer me up, took me out To dinner and shopping, I missed our pool, and Competing who was best At belly flopping. Hubby even bought me A labrador puppy, But I did not like our new house. Although I loved its whereabouts, Opposite a farm, With cows, horses and sheep, A calming sight, To wake and see at morning light. I unpacked with a heavy heart, We realized we had To make another fresh start. Our son found a real english Like cottage with a garden That i could envisage making Into a dream, In my minds eyes i drew Up a mystical fairy theme Four years we have, Lived here, but our son and daughter In-law, suggested we move into one Of their cottages, Oh no, another move, Yet another garden to Create and improve. But we will have our Three-year-old grand-daughter, Living near, Making our decision Ever so clear! So guess what, I’m packing again, But this time, We have won first prize, This move we feel, is wise!
