But I held onto hope until my hands became wounded, Until the thread, sharper than the pain it promised to soothe, Dug deep into my skin, like a river of endless melancholy. From the beginning, we were told to believe, as in an invisible light, Which carries us through the dense darkness to a land where dreams take shape, But what do we do if that place doesn't truly exist? If all this time we have been just prisoners of a shadow, Waiting for something that was never meant to reach us? They tell me to believe, not because they know the way, But because they have nothing else to offer, When words melt into silence, when comfort becomes cold, They dress uncertainty in the cloak of hope, "Keep going." "Keep dreaming." But I have walked and I have dreamed, And yet, every touch turns to dust between my fingers, I watch as my world crumbles, brick by brick, dream by dream, And still, I'm told to hold tightly to the illusion that is unraveling. Why hold on? To another fleeting illusion? To another heart broken in whispers? To another promise that evaporates the moment I touch it? Hope is not the light they claim it to be, Sometimes it is the very weight that pulls you under deep waters, The voice that keeps you locked, waiting for a miracle that will never come. And if hope were true, I am sure it has not crossed my path, And so I return to the beginning, with doubts like stars in the night sky, Wondering if I will ever find that promised light.
