Missive To Shore
Somewhere in my forest the wind shakes the trees And love come down the mountains perfumed with breeze Somewhere in my forest a bright bud breaks at dawn And love's nimble eyes stag the shivering silver fawn But here day and night the wet water stays warm, too Still for ships to sail, too still for dreams, this fresh brew Of adversity, this invisible shackle of the will, here alone A man of talent may sit and slowly turn to simple stone. While in this doldrums where the thick clouds scud the sky And the lamps of heaven this dark soot their light deny Nothing against my heart's dream can prevail, I imagine That what I believe I can achieve, so I await my wind. My sail is up and ready to go, the far forest calls me home Diamonds that sparkle on the sea proved only to be foam O let me come the mountains foot, and there let me wait Dawn comes there like happy hibiscus through the gate.
