The Beeping Heart in My Pocket
A pixelated egg held in my hand, A digital life I had command. Three buttons small, a tiny screen, A world within so bright and keen. The beeping sound, a constant call, Demanding care lest it should fall. Hunger pangs and happy chirps, A delicate balance with little quirks. I fed it bits of digital treat, And played small games, its joy complete. Cleaned up its mess with worried frown, Hoping my virtual friend wouldn't drown... In digital despair if I delayed, My nurturing duty poorly played. Through stages it grew, a wondrous sight, From squishy blob to something bright. A teen, an adult with forms so strange, Each evolution brought a change. I carried it close on keychain ring, A constant presence joy it would bring. At school, at home, a watchful eye, Ensuring its needs beneath the sky. The dreaded beep, a mournful tone, When neglect had left it all alone. A tiny grave upon the screen, A pang of guilt so sharp and mean. We traded tales of growth and fate, Whose Tamagotchi sealed its gate. A shared obsession innocent and pure, A digital bond that would endure... In childhood memories, sweet and deep, A secret world that we would keep. O, Tamagotchi, pocket-sized friend, A nostalgic journey without end. Those pixelated days, a simple plea, To care and nurture digitally. ©bfa041725
