Jukebox Memories
The neon hum, a gentle gleam, Reflecting chrome, a waking dream. A dusty box, a treasure chest, Where vinyl spun and found its rest. Ten cents clinked, a hopeful plea, To summon forth a melody. A finger danced, a slow select, Anticipation, I'd expect. The whirring sound, a patient wait, The needle dropped sealed by fate. And then it poured that golden sound, That wrapped the smoky room around. The twang of strings, a soulful cry, A lover's sigh beneath the sky. A driving beat, a youthful thrill, Each song a memory to fill. The scent of leather stale and sweet, Of spilled-up drinks and tapping feet. The low-lit haze, the whispered word, Each song a story overheard. From rock and roll to blues so deep, Secrets the jukebox used to keep. A soundtrack to our youthful days, Lost in its nostalgic haze. No digital, no endless stream, Just chosen tunes, a vibrant gleam. A tangible and precious thing, The joy a single song could bring. O, jukebox friend, where have you gone? Your vibrant music lingers on. A memory etched, a sweet refrain, A touch of magic in the rain. ©bfa040825
