An Unfinished Love Story
I loved her like the moon loves the tide, Always pulling closer, yet pushed aside. She smiled, and I mistook it for light, Not knowing I was just a star lost in her night. I wrote her name in every prayer, In empty rooms, in midnight air. But love, for her, was never me— Just a passing breeze, just a fallen leaf. She spoke of dreams, of love so true, But not once did she say, "I dream of you." I was the shoulder she leaned upon, Yet when she loved, I was already gone. I drowned in silence, she danced in spring, I wept in shadows, she wore her ring. She walked away without a glance, While I stayed behind, lost in the trance. The world moved on, but I stayed still, Trapped in echoes I couldn’t kill. And now, I write where love has died, A grave of words, where tears reside. She was never mine… but I was always hers
