They even approached the gods of yesteryear, Don’t know what they were smoking, But they must have been rocking, For they had to appear sane, This side of the windowpane. Philosophers, psychologists, astrologists All had to come up with an answer They dare not be looked upon as a chancer, These learned men had to interpret dreams, An understandable answer had to be found, Or else they would land 6 feet underground. What I understand to be true, Is that our mind owns The cue to us having any clue, So like a sponge it absorbs thoughts, actions, Emotions, memories and places, Which then imprints themselves to our subconscious, so when we Sleep and dream The mind is us, And we are the mind, Does the mind control us and Therefore, our dreams, Or do we control the mind, And dream as we want to, Computers might change us Complicate our lives, Dictate, manage, direct, And command us, But for now, we are still one, Both master and puppet. I had a dream with meaning On the second night, After great heartache And fright, When my very sick, cancer ridden, Adorable father died, And my 8 year old son, my Mother and I cried. We phoned my Uncle Brian In England, With the devastating news that His brother, my father, Ricky’s Beloved grandpa had died. He was on a plane traveling To his family in South Africa, The following day. AND SO MY DREAM BEGINS In my dream I’m driving on The main highway, where there Are, on the side of the road Enormous adverts that in a Strong wind sometimes sway. But what I saw in my dream Was a gigantic advert, unique, Quite another, Which was like no other. A huge white sign with two words On it typed in bold black ink, TYRES SKID, That was odd, for amid All the hustle And bustle, Of the death of my dad, Came a message from him To me, via a dream. Immediately I went to tell, Mom and Brian, well Brian got up and hurriedly, And went to our garage, Your tires are all bald, That is your dad’s message to you, Brian said, we drove to the garage And had all my tyres replaced. It was a strange day, I Was still reeling and dazed From my dream, and astounded That my dad who had passed on Less than 48 hours ago, had Probably saved my life, My guardian angel, It had been his job to check my car, But it was now time, To be mine. Thank-you Brian, for you deciphered The dream immediately and so accurately. Brian had traveled to us, his family In Johannesburg for a reason, He was chosen. Brian very sadly died from brain cancer 5 years later.
