Let me in my odd orbit drift - 1
Should ye pry open my personal space, Remember, my core privacy to spare, Pray take me not as a child's cosy bear, Let me get lost in search of unknown me, I love to roam like a rudderless ship And seek fresh breeze from where so it may waft, Uncharted, drift to what so fancies me, Ah cleaving to nowhere, crave no heaven. Love me or not, but leave me all alone To let me live life in my own odd way, Let me grow like wild weeds, grown but by whim-- Weeds struggling hard, survive no matter what. I would much rather you treat me like fire— Get warm from safe distance of a friend dire, I love to breathe big oxygen to burn, A mountain I’m that looks good from a far. A flower, cherish my fragrance from far, Or be a butterfly ever careful Never to harm-- not that I’ve sharp knuckles, My nectar be for all--all that be friends. Better treat me like a flower in wild That always smiles like late night's crescent moon, Enjoy its charm before it melts from sight, Better be like birds that let me blossom-- I blossom at sundown in privacy And fall off by the dawn shy of limelight, Leaving soiled fragrance for those that love My shyness, I hate daylight’s prying eyes. It’s fine if I’m not nature's special gift, Happy still in my odd orbit to drift. ________________________ Musings | 02.05.2008, revised March 2025 | fantasy, desire, wander/drift
