Signs of Courage
As I strolled through the street one day, The oddest sight caught my eyes, A man, only wearing rags, But very wise, Spoke words of knowledge, inspiration and advice, How to care, how to share, And just how to be nice, To not judge people on what they’ve done, But what they’re doing now, And that, no matter what happens, You’ll always pull through -- someway or somehow. His words inspired, his words spoke, His words could not throw aside. He spoke wisdom and truth, and never uttered a lie. This is something we had never experienced Or seen before in all of our lives, But, this man had a pure soul… He was courageous enough not to deceive or to lie, He didn’t just stand there and watch the world slowly die, Everyone saw it and witnessed it before their eyes, And knew there was more Than met the eye. Over the next few days, Word spread like wildfire from coast to coast, About the man, the wandering man, That would never lie, cheat, deceive or boast. His name invaded the TV, He appeared on John Walsh, NBC, Jerry Springer And even Oprah Winfrey! I noticed that around the world, it was changing every day -- No more lies, pain evil, and no more dismay This man pulled the people Out of their selfish, greedy, ways And gave this dying world some hope -- just one last ray, He made the world stop turning, and to think about how, Every day, we tear a tiny chunk off ourselves And off the human race, I was brought from my bewildered, deep thoughts When the newscaster sighed a heavy Drearily reporting that this wandering man had died. At that moment, I felt in my heart The world stopped dead in its tracks, Trying to comprehend these dreadful facts, I thought in my head that his work must be done, His odyssey is fulfilled. This man, this ONE man’s courageous ways, Helped get the message through the world. And made it clear why he must say, “Hey! This is enough! We’re killing the world with each passing day!” Now every time I walk outside, it blows my mind away, How one man--only one man--changed the world And all our futures in the simplest of ways. He filled the world with wisdom, love, generosity, And so much knowledge. Only this man who dared to speak what he believed, Dared to fight for what is right, Dared to tell the world, “STOP!”… And be ready for a fight! This one man who cared, this one man who dared, This one mans courage will change the world… forever. And his name was Jesus.
