A Short Missive To You And To You
As the final pages of my life turn, I write to you not in sorrow but in the quiet grace of acceptance. We are all travelers through this fleeting world, each of us given only so much light before our dusk arrives. With my own twilight arriving, I hope you will remember not the shadow of my absence but the glow of what I to all, leave behind. I have no wish to be a burden, only a memory as soft as the hush of early spring. Let there be no weight upon your heart, for love is never a chain but a winged thing, lifting us ever onward. If ever I have caused you pain—real or imagined—I ask for forgiveness, as I grant it freely to those who have wronged me. Life is too brief to be bound by sorrow, and I long to depart as gently as a leaf upon the wind, untethered by regret. I believe the soul is a river that bends and flows toward something greater. If it is true, as I hope, that we return wiser, lighter, and nearer to perfection, then let me go with that faith in my heart. Perhaps, in some distant time, I shall rise like a bird to a higher dawn, and you will know me by the whisper in the trees or the hush of the stars. You, my most beloved, have been a beacon, a reason to strive, a mirror reflecting the best I could be. If I have walked with kindness, if I have spoken with truth, it was in part because I wished to be worthy of you. Hold fast to your own path, walk with purpose, and let poetry be your guide—for words are the true law of the soul, shaping the unseen world with their quiet power. Know that love never dies, only changes form. May hope and compassion walk with you always, as they have walked with me. Ever yours, I am in quite isolation and self-imposed reflection,
