Ballad of lonely girl
I'm always walking on eggshells around everyone, Honestly, it's getting exhausting. I notice the little things that make you laugh, In hopes that you'll laugh with me. When I don't, I wonder: Do they actually care for me, Or the idea I've created? Will they pet my hair when the whole world falls apart with me in the center? The only people I can be myself with, I worry they hate me. Maybe they're good at faking it. It just might be genetic, Because I'm good at faking it too. I hate long conversations, But I'll look you in the eye and smile. I need to sleep, Yet I'll stay awake for you. Does it make me weak? That I can't create boundaries, Letting you see how far I can go to please you? I've been taking a lot of therapy, In hopes that I will learn to love The not-so-perfect reflection the world sees, The real me, who isn't half of what they know.
