You occupy my thoughts on those rare moments I engage with the universe, catching me unawares by a first word of a first line so that I tumble into bliss... I adore it when you do that. I'm missing you. Currently I'm lost within my own maze of unarticulated thought and require a voice to guide me out. For you are like a magnet on the end of a fishing line, sent into the darkness to find the worthless piece of costume jewellery that's still worth recovering. I sit amongst the dust in an out of sight place, waiting to be brought to mind, searched for and found. Put in pride of place. For that, my love, is how poetry gathers me together. Like the snapping of the hypnotist's fingers - you bring me round, fully alert, alive and most glamorously present in the room. My dedication is flawed, as I write off the best of you for making me wait until the third line for the hook - or when your poem ends without circling back or hovering in a moment. It seems so many (poetry) lovers are easily pleased, and I observe, from my cusp of existence, others crying out in pleasure over what I see as lack lustre. Would I be better off like that, satisfied by the abundance of mediocre? Never! I want it all! Lure me in so intelligently that I can imagine I am the muse by the power of your language - to be drawn in so completely I am bound, momentarily, to your soul in the kind of ecstasy that merges every emotion into one screaming, explosive outpouring. I do love you. It's a shame you are fragments of other people's lives - but pull me in once again all the same. I'll happily be blind to the others entranced by the very same words on the very same pages, across years and lifetimes... For I truly love the way you make me feel. Ever searchingly yours Reader of Poetry
