I chose this particular bench because it has come to be over many years of sitting here…much more than a bench to me. How can on old bench hold any meaning…you ask? I suppose that depends on your point of view…. for many is the time I’ve sat here with Deborah enjoying a scoop of ice cream…or two. Our children have sat on this bench with us.. from here we watched how fast they grew. They use to love Superman ice cream which tuned their tongues an unnatural shade of blue. This bench has also seen us sitting with our four grandchildren too… they use to love Smurf ice cream which, interestingly enough, turned their tongues that same unnatural shade of blue. When our great niece and her boyfriend come to town we find it charmingly sweet that on this bench for ice cream…is where we like to meet. As our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews have grown and as we’ve watched how their lives have rearranged It’s nice to know this bench, where so many of our memories sit this bench…has never changed. So as I pass this bench each morning… you can see why touching it always give me such a thrill I guess you can say I have a soft spot for this hard bench.. and I imagine…that I always will
