Insignificantly Me
I’m only one of billions of my kind breathing in the same atmosphere from eons gone by. . . just a spec in God’s eye Perhaps, we’re just the latest whim Perhaps, the greatest Perhaps, perhaps not. You’re only one of billions, just like me In that respect, we’re the same All breathing the same air from the same atmosphere of eons gone by. . . just a blink of an eye, just a wink in time Perhaps, we’re at the top of the food chain Perhaps, an evolutionary game where we pretend, we’re also at the top Made in the image of God Himself The best of the best, better than all the rest of billions and billions of species All surviving as if this was some kind of test on this Big Blue spherical nest spinning around and around our Sun that blocks out the others and becomes the One and only for a while, daily really, but when the nighttime comes with that spotlight to our backs It’s only One amongst billions of sparkles in the black Billions now visible to my naked eyes, I take them all in. Yet with a little telescopic help, we all know better. There’s an infinite number beyond our nakedness, beyond the vastness of possibilities Physicists would have us believe this Universe of ours is but one of an infinite Number of Quantum realities Perhaps When I look to the stars I see Them looking down at me like eyes. . . Like all eyes on me, can you believe it? Insignificant me.
