Ego Death
Who is that blank girl staring at the mirror Why won't she say something She never used her voice to express her true feeling And she said, "That was just my ego inside me." She went around town trying to fit in. She would adjust herself to look confident. But deep inside, she knew it was all lies. Knocking on the door was never for her. Getting cold stares caused her to long for more. It was the start of twist attention. (Chorus) Who is that blank girl staring at the mirror Why won't she say something She never used her voice to express her true feeling And she said, "That was just my ego inside me." Her fascinations were quite different. She would like to explore and read books about fantasy. She loved learning, even loved the other side of God. She was just a bright and butterfly wild child. Strange looks and strange views, she questioned it all. The world she was in didn't appreciate her type of skin, her way of thinking, and her way of dressing. It caused her to wipe her identity. She figured she'd focus more on boys and clothes Then maybe they would accept all of me. (Chorus) Who is that blank girl staring at the mirror? Why won't she say something She never used her voice to express her true feelings And she said, "That was just my ego inside me." Ooo, It's hurt so bad. It was my ego taking the lead. Overcompensate, and many people were pleased. Ooo, in the end, No friends, no acknowledgment. They weren't even loyal. Tossed me aside, and now I'm out cold. (Chrous) I was that blank girl staring at the mirror. Now I'm telling my truth. I'm taking off these false labels. The girl in me is finally free. I'm expressing my true feelings. I had a whole ego death in me. I had, A whole ego death in me These are heartfelt lyrics, and for anyone it may resonate with. I'm also okay if you tear it apart. Criticism is a way of life, and I'm not living on fear-based actions. I'm determined to walk in my heart space. Stay Blessed. Be your authentic self. You matter, too. ????
