The doors opened as we walked in, I had a pain in my side, probably from the long car ride. The woman at the front desk welcomed us, it was five in the morning, yet she looked her very best, me-not so much. I was scared yet ready. I had pain and loss of vision for so long, I needed this so I could be me again. They need me, I need them. I could barely walk as my left side was already suffering, vision loss, neurological problems, and an eye doctor who kept telling me I just had eye floaters. I went to a third eye doctor and he ordered an MRI of my brain, stat. All this time I had suffered, this was insane! The only eye doctor who did right by me, there's a huge tumor is what he said. It could be cancer, we don't know yet, I'm having the surgery with no regrets. I searched for the best neuro surgeon, his name is Daniel Prevedello, all I've got to say is "what a wonderful doctor". I went under with much confidence in him and his staff. While under anesthesia I saw visions of my family waiting for me. I was a child again, I saw all my sufferings throughout life. I was a young mother and an abused wife, I was a grandmother who loved unconditionally, I met my husband Ron and married him with a love like I never knew, I was an officer, I had a great career. My grandparents were calling me home, but those boots are still right here, I'm not ready to give up yet. Then I heard the nurse calling my name, "Vickie, wake up, everything went great!" Dr. Prevedello I owe you my life, I even got back my wonderful eyesight! I see clearly now, and I can only say "wow, you look so beautiful to me." The worst part was losing some hair, and all the metal clamps-forty in all, they are painful to bare. I'm crying with relief and happiness, I'll see you again someday grandma and grandpa, but until then my boots still need some pulling up and shining.
