The Journey to the Golden Temple on the Hill
Luke started his journey at the Red River Gum tree, Near the Waratah garden and the old sandstone path. He crossed the Bay River, on a bridge that was shaky, And began the climb up the Hill near the town of Wrath. The climb was gradual at first, and he felt at ease, But soon he reached the ten stone steps to the first Station. Here he found an old bark hut, and a flock of turkeys. An man came out and said use your imagination. The old man said: “Seek not fame and glory. They are wicked illusions. Fame is just the acclamation of the other Apes. Don’t put faith in objects. They will mask your seclusions. Look beyond wealth and settle for the low hanging grapes.” The ancient man pushed Luke outside and slammed the door. He picked himself up and walked along the sandstone track. Soon he saw a house with vicious dogs chained to the floor. They were barking at anyone in the front or back. Luke slowly walked by and the shiny white door opened. There was a middle aged woman standing waiting. She shouted at the mad dogs but did not seem concerned. Luke rushed inside the small home without hesitating. The woman said: “Welcome would you like a cold drink? It is warm outside. You are a young and I need to explain a few things. Firstly all men are dogs and devils in human hide. A man will kill you for fun. Avoid all that he brings. But if you have to live with them remember always, Deny a man joy and you will alienate him, You will alienate him from his soul all his days. Try to deny the man freedom from his God’s kingdom. Remember this: ”Dem Anführer muss gehorcht warden” Now get out of my house or I’ll sick the dogs on you. To me you are a man and nothing but a burden So go and spread your lies and start your wars as you do.” The uphill journey was beginning to wear Luke out, So he took a break at a small fruit stand and rested. A childish man saw Luke and started to laugh and shout, He was surprised how much of the climb Luke accepted. The young man said: “I’m sorry to laugh but most people don’t get this high. Would you like some watermelon or orange juice?” Luke had some orange juice and starred into the clear blue sky, He ate the watermelon and it was glorious. Soon Luke reached the top of the Hill and it all felt grim, As he was staring into space he realised that , Despite all their strange wisdom no-one listened to him. No one ever wanted to listen or even chat. He turned around and saw the entrance to the Temple, The monks were sweeping the path beckoning him in, Luke laughed and shook his head for the choice was quite simple. He rolled down the other side of the hill with a grin.
