At Death’s Door
There’s a rattle in my chest And a battle beneath my breast No longer do I desire to eat My body is wretched failing weak But the spiritual me is redeemed Have you even been in so much pain You couldn’t whisper swallow or sleep Pain that drains your eyes from even a weep Pain that kills will and darkens eyes And chills all who see you I hate that look so pitiful so useless Taking more than giving sympathy Knowing they mean well even in despair At deaths door I imagine the other side The hereafter a simply an absence of pain And the most refreshing blueberry rain A long row of ancestors on either side Ushering you in with waves and sighs Congratulating me for time and effort Music flowing with no known genre Beautiful and soothing yet full of energy Light so bright at the furthest end Alluring encouraging like a lake to jump in Beyond deaths door a peach peace Waiting to join my spirit set me free from Memories bad and good for now The journey begins
