In the silent depths of my mind, I ponder what defines a fulfilled life
In the silent depths of my mind, I ponder what defines a fulfilled life, Is it a path paved with discipline or perhaps a labyrinth of unbound pleasure? Maybe the truth hides in the time spent with family, in the warmth of the homely nest, Where each moment is a page written with love in the book of our eternity. Religion tells me our time here is finite, a blink in the vastness of eternity, And science, with its rigor and certainty, only agrees with it, Like two swallows parting in the air, seeking different horizons, but under the same sky. Where their paths diverge, the approaches begin to take shape. Science whispers to me: go and discover, explore unseen worlds and unwritten laws, Like a sailor plunging into unknown waves, searching for islands of knowledge and truth. Religion, however, sings a song of introspection, telling me that all discoveries are, in fact, within me, Like a gardener digging deep into the soil of the soul, planting seeds of faith and understanding. And I find myself sometimes, a student of both schools, torn between two truths, seeking solace, Like a butterfly caught between two flames, desiring the light but fearing the burn. I spend some days seeking spiritual nourishment, peace, and serenity in sacred places, But the rest of the time, I plunge into the ocean of scientific reason, letting myself be carried by its waves, Like a pearl diver equally searching the spiritual depths and the logical expanses. And from the outside, it may seem I have a preference, a pronounced inclination, But that is only proof of how little I know, a measure of my vast ignorance, Like a falling star that burns for a moment, leaving behind only a fleeting trail. When troubles knock on my door, I set aside the tomes of science, And cry out to my soul, to my ancestors, to my God, Like a lost child calling for its mother, seeking any divinity for comfort. The truth is, I don't want to be just a passenger in my own life, I want to be the lead actor, the one who determines my fate, I don't want life's hardships to make me question my relevance, For I know I will not truly die, I will live on, But still, the emphasis here falls on "die," on the ephemerality of existence, Like a sad song repeated by the wind through the autumn leaves. I am alive now, we are alive now! Other forms of life exist around us, and even science and religion agree. And so, I find myself on an unwritten map, where each lived moment is a question, Where the conflict between science and spirituality is a symphony of self-discovery, I live in a world where outward discovery and introspection intertwine, And maybe, at the end of the day, this is the secret of a fulfilled life: To navigate between stars and souls, between the cosmos and inner truths, In a melancholic waltz of existence, where answers come and go, Leaving us always in the magical quest for deep meaning, And a soul peace that transcends time and space.
