The Three Salesmen
Three salesmen on a trip, Stopped at this hotel to take a dip, One of them quipped, Before he had sipped, On his wine, So fine, My sweet Carolyn, Such a fine place to dine! Taking a room for three, Thirty dollars to be, For the night , you see, Joe, Jack, and Jim, Their money kinda slim, Ten dollars a piece between em, No inflation, In their nation! As the evening wore on, The manager got on the phone, To the bellhop! He admits his flop, Too much money I got, A mistake on the fee, O mercy me, I’ll give to thee, Five dollars, you see, To divide equally, Back to the three,, Salesmen now in their room, A problem begin to bloom! Very soon, The bellhop being, a goon, Begin to swoon, He cannot decide, How to divide, Three into five, Man alive, How does he survive! What he decided to do, Was to keep two! Now having three left, By his math evolved, His problem is solved! Now he’s as happy as can be, For the three will never see, The problem of their fee, He thinks how brilliant of me! One dollar a piece back, you see, Very happy three gentlemen to see, One for Joe, one for Jack, one for Jim, Still leaves our story out on a limb! Nine dollars a piece for their room, Again the problem begins to bloom! Three times nine is twenty seven, Plus two, the bellhop’s leaven! Equals twenty nine, O mercy mine! Where did the other dollar go, Tell me I am slow! The answer my friend, Is blowing in life’s wind! The moral of this story flow, Has a direction we will go, The proverbial flaw in the flue, Through which the fly, flew! When you collar, The dollar, Give me a holler! 4th of July Special 7-4-09 johnmosesfreeman@yahoo.com
