Yesterday
Yesterday flows through my mind carrying the day and night dreams I've lived they are hazy visions from the pit of my soul dispersed in my heart a passionate flame of emotional embrace of treasured ecstasy awakening my memory from slumber to reveal moments of clarity played from my mind, a virtuoso of enchantment to lift my spirit from suspended animation so I may see what was when life was lived on the run needing to amuse myself with laughter and wine when love was a long-stem rose given as a cherished gift to those whose doors were open where pain, came from tender tears of turmoil and passions were burned into ashes left to the wind, to be blown away leaving barren ground danced upon by those whose heart was like mine in our linear years toward death these flickering pictures are a steadfast reminder of gardens once filled with many colored blooms in the vigor of their lives before losing every petal leaving them naked and brown crumbling away into yesterday that are scattered in the memory of my mind
