Ode To a Mitten
Sometimes when the days are bright, And sometimes in the dead of night, I tell myself that you were right, And off my mind goes into flight. Is it alright if I miss you now? You know I'll do it anyhow, I rest my hand upon my brow, And make to you this solemn vow. Remember when you'd call to me, All those late nights we'd disagree, We'd laugh and cry and guarantee, We'd be friends for eternity. At 3 AM I'd make a call, I'm going through a new downfall, I never really felt this small, I've never really lost it all. But even though you are still there, The things are not the same to share, There is no comfort in the air, To myself I say a silent prayer. That for just one day I could rewind, All those things that made me blind, All those things that changed my mind, When our hearts were intertwined. That special understanding bond, I don't know how my heart was conned, But now you seem to be beyond, I call your name you don't respond. Can we rekindle that warm fire? Or tell me now, should I retire? From this foolish game of friendship prior, Or can you fill this last desire? Just one last chance to set it straight, Don't leave us to the hands of fate, Follow your heart, please don't debate, I'm truly missing my best mate -- Friend, pal, buddy, what you will, My heart is full, so please don't spill, Don't tell me that you've had your fill, The truth is that I miss you, still.
