Grieving Ancient City
In ancient China's heart, a tale unfurls, Where sorrow's grip ensnares the Yellow River's curls. From four hundred thousand to nine hundred grand, In nineteen thirty-eight, despair swept the land. The river, once a lifeline, now a cruel beast, Devoured homes and dreams, leaving hearts to feast On anguish and loss, as families were torn By nature's relentless onslaught, leaving them worn. Amidst the wreckage, grief hung heavy in the air, As survivors searched for solace, finding none to spare. Fields once lush with promise lay desolate and bare, Their fertile soil now tainted by the flood's despair. Yet amidst the ruins, a spark of hope alights, As communities unite, ready to fight. Hand in hand, they rise from sorrow's gloom, Rebuilding their lives amidst nature's loud boom. From the chaos emerges tales of bravery, Of individuals risking all, their spirits unwaveringly free. Neighbors become heroes, extending a hand, To lift one another from the depths of the land. But amidst the stories of resilience and might, Lingers the haunting memory of that fateful night. When the river, in its fury, claimed lives untold, Leaving behind a legacy of sorrow to behold. Each home, once a sanctuary, now a shattered dream, Each soul, once filled with hope, now torn at the seam. Yet in the midst of sorrow, seeds of strength are sown, As the community rises, no longer alone. For in the face of tragedy, humanity prevails, As love and compassion become our mighty sails. And though the scars may linger, etched deep in the earth, We rebuild and we rise, for what is life without rebirth? So let us honor those lost to the flood's cruel spree, Their memories cherished in eternity. And in their place, let resilience shine bright, As we rebuild our world with sorrow's might.
