What About Me?
I sit and look at my Father, His silent cries when he looks at his daughter, In the darkness of the night, Battling the tribulations so that we could unite. I can sense his fear as he sips his wine, Yet his smile is as radiant as the sunshine. With all the love he hurled, And dressed me up for the world. She left us for the other, Such a woman cannot be my mother. But every time I see her around, I feel rooted to the ground. My tears start flowing into the sea, As I utter, “What about me?” They got married when they agreed But then why did they join the stampede? Through the pains and cruelties The tests and difficulties Why cannot they resolve the strife Because children suffer for life. My friends say mothers are selfless I choke at the thought. Where was she when I first bled? Or the tears I secretly shed? My father is my mother, Cause now I know no other. I heard my father as he cried, And then I knew that she has died. For now, it was just us The epiphany strikes me thus
