Vagabond
Genesis 4:12 (KJV) “When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.” Yesterday spreads its wings… Across the timeless expanse of broken dreams, Graceful as the southern drawl, Resting in the softest lullaby, Pouring out light on overcast hearts, Remembering to breath hope into the skies, Where the moon tumbles in silence, Lasting as the stars embrace the twilight, Shimmering, glittering, dazzling Away the shadows…. Yesterday stirs the fires… Colors fall, furious as the flames Ignited by destiny’s pain, Flowing on the night, hypnotic Growing beautiful beneath the secrets, Harmonizing with faith, The shadows of sapphire slaves, Silence, serenity, sensitivity Notes of old lives, ancestors In courageous thoughts, bleeding Mercy and blessing away the fears, Who challenge the soul, the spirit, To murmur prayers…. Yesterday, needing more… Than the cool winter’s silence, More than the wind’s boastful stories, More than the spring, the summer With all the sands blurring hearts As the seas rise to meet the sunset With all its tangerine hues, blushing Seeds of grace through the heart Who can hear the feelings, Bleeding light on the one who sees, Beyond the grief, beyond the sorrow, Into the love that abides in tomorrow… Yesterday feeds my present, Morsels of sweet, crumbs of tempting Truths, tried by the fires, Tidbits of laughter and desire, While blessings continue to embrace The music of hearts who can feel, Beneath the storms, Everlasting to everlasting, Kindness in the wonder of His will… Yesterday, I knew… Today, I hold the experience, In my heart, in my thoughts, in my soul, Where only He knows… The me that will forever be, Grateful for this love who saved me, From – not just the pain, Not just the rain or the darkness, Not only the fears and the tears, Not just the fate of forever without Him, But also, always, … From my worst enemy, me (stated most humbly, and with total belief in this man, who isn’t just a man, but the King who’ll one day come back to me, while praise for Him, I’ll forever sing!) Praising Jesus, the King of Kings Praising Jesus, the reason I can Look back on this life and find peace, Knowing that He is always with me, Always comforting my spirit, Always giving me love I didn’t earn, Love so alive, it will forever burn, Inside my heart and my soul, Where Jesus is the light that shines, So I know… darkness has lost its power, His light blesses me in my darkest hour, And, wherever I am – I know He is there, Breaking through the shadows, With the promise of love that I can share, With every heart, every soul who I meet, In this dark world, where He is the hope I believe! Yesterday’s enemy, the vagabond – He has defeated, And I know the meaning of grace that quiets, My past, my struggles, my fears… With love that continues throughout all time, Love that is forever and always… mine.
